Strong held offices in a number of religious organizations, including the American Sunday-School Union and the American Bible Society.  He favored amending the U.S. Constitution to establish &#8220;Lord Jesus Christ as the Governor among nations, and His revealed will as of supreme authority.&#8221; Sunday was known as &#8220;The Evangelist,&#8221; and quit baseball after a superb 1890 season&#8212;he stole 84 bases&#8212;to work for the church.  He became an advocate of Prohibition, and supported proposals to ban baseball games on Sundays.</answer>
