	<answer label="Billy Martin">2B SS Mgr, 1928-1989.  Vehicular accidents essentially ended the careers of these players.  Paterson was appointed to the Court by President Washington in 1793, and was an important player in the Court&#8217;s decisions of the 1790s, which helped to establish the legitimacy of the federal government.  In 1804, he was seriously injured in a carriage accident while tending to his circuit, and died two years later.  Martin was famous for his spats and multiple hirings-firings in his relations with Yankee owner George Steinbrenner.  A tragic auto accident ended his career, and his life, on Christmas Day in 1989.</answer>
