Biography: 

Robert J. Shapiro was born and raised in Milton, Delaware in 1950. He graduated from the University of Delaware in 1972 and Temple University School of Law in 1976. After moving to Tampa, Florida, he represented Mrs. Palmore in the Florida trial and appellate courts as well as the United States Supreme Court.

Following the Palmore case, he authored the petition for certiorari in Ibanez v. Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation Board of Accountancy, 512 U.S. 136 (1994) and represented the petitioner and was the oralist in Lawyer v. Department of Justice, 521 U.S. 567 (1997).

He subsequently became a senior counsel at Holland & Knight in Tampa and an adjunct professor at Stetson University School of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida.

He is currently the Staff Attorney for the School Board of Manatee County in Bradenton, Florida.
