James D. Holzhauer, Partner

Jim Holzhauer's primary practice is in Supreme Court and appellate litigation in the areas of employee benefits litigation, labor and employment, and lawyers' professional liability. He has argued three cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, and has briefed numerous others. Prior to joining Mayer, Brown, Jim spent two years in private practice in Washington, D.C., and three years as an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago Law School, where he lectured on and taught courses on a variety of labor relations, constitutional law and professional responsibility topics.

Jim is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, where he served as Note Editor of the Michigan Law Review. Following law school he served as law clerk to Judge Robert Ainsworth, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and then clerked in the United States Supreme Court for Chief Justice Warren E. Burger.
