Kenneth S. Geller, Partner

Ken Geller concentrates on Supreme Court and appellate practice. He has written and edited some 300 briefs and certiorari petitions in the United States Supreme Court and during the October 2002 term argued his 39th, 40th, and 41st cases before the court. He has also argued numerous cases in federal courts of appeals and state courts. Prior to joining Mayer, Brown, Ken served for over 10 years in the Solicitor General's Office, as Assistant to the Solicitor General and as Deputy Solicitor General. His jurisdiction as Deputy Solicitor General included most of the government's civil litigation, major federal program cases, and a wide variety of administrative law cases. During his tenure in the government, Ken won a Presidential Distinguished Service Award and a host of other awards from the Department of Justice and the Federal Bar Association. In April 2004, Ken was named to the top band of the Chambers USA list of "America's Leading Lawyers for Business."

Ken is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School and a former editor of the Harvard Law Review. After law school, he served as a law clerk to Judge Walter Mansfield of the Second Circuit and as a prosecutor in the Watergate Special Prosecution Force. Ken is co-author of Supreme Court Practice (8th ed. 2002) and the chapter on Supreme Court litigation in Business and Commercial Litigation in Federal Courts (2d ed. 2005).

Since 1995, Ken has been the partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown LLP's Washington, D.C. office and a member of the Firm's Management Committee.
