Overview
Mr. Grant graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law in 1990 and thereafter served as a law clerk to Judge Edith H. Jones of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. In Washington, D.C., he practiced at the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel and at the local office of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue. During the Supreme Court’s October 1994 Term, he served as law clerk to Retired Chief Justice Warren E. Burger and Associate Justice Clarence Thomas.
Since 1997, Mr. Grant has practiced in Sacramento, California. As an attorney for the Pacific Legal Foundation, he successfully petitioned for certiorari in Palazzolo v. Rhode Island, 533 U.S. 606 (2001). More recently, as a solo practitioner, he has argued before the California Supreme Court, the en banc Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
