Todd J. Ehlman, Partner

Todd Ehlman is a litigation partner in the firm’s Chicago office who has practiced in most major areas of U.S. and international business litigation, including antitrust, unfair competition, and product liability.

Mr. Ehlman’s significant cases and trials include:

  • United States v. Philip Morris Inc. (federal government action against cigarette makers)
  • Abbott Laboratories v. Sandoz Inc. (obtained preliminary injunction for patent infringement)
  • Abbott Laboratories v. Andrx, Inc. (obtained preliminary injunction for patent infringement)
  • In re Sulfuric Acid Antitrust Litigation (nationwide class action)
  • Kupat Holim Clalit v. Philip Morris International (action by Israeli insurer)
  • CPAM St. Nazaire v. Philip Morris International (action by French insurer)
  • State of Michigan v. Philip Morris Inc. (state attorney general action against cigarette makers)
  • United States v. Dan Rostenkowski (public corruption case)
  • United States v. General Electric Co. (successful defense of criminal price-fixing case)
  • Russell v. General Electric Co. (defense of wrongful termination suit based on alleged whistleblowing; claims against client dismissed before trial)
  • Wirth v. Sequoia Pacific Systems (obtained dismissal of nationwide class action)
  • Abbott Laboratories v. Lexington Wholesale (obtained summary judgment on Lanham Act claims)

Mr. Ehlman is a 1989 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, where he ranked second in his class, was elected to the Order of the Coif, and served as editor of the Michigan Law Review.  He graduated, with honors, Phi Beta Kappa, from Northwestern University in 1986.
