Eric W. Bloom, Partner Eric Bloom is a litigation partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office who concentrates his practice on complex civil and white collar criminal matters. Mr. Bloom argued and briefed before the U.S. Supreme Court in Sun Diamond Growers of California v. United States, a seminal public corruption case, and obtained a 9-0 decision affirming the reversal of the agricultural cooperative’s conviction under a federal anti-gratuity statute. He has prepared amici curiae briefs in Winstar Corp. v. United States, a successful government contract appeal arising out of the savings and loan crisis, and in Cisneros v. Alpine Ridge Group, regarding the scope of a sovereign’s powers to alter contractual obligations through enactment of new law. He has prepared numerous petitions for certiorari, and oppositions to petitions for certiorari, to the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Bloom also represents individuals and companies in internal investigations, investigations by grand juries and other governmental entities, and trials and appellate proceedings. His practice also includes the preparation of compliance programs for clients to assist them in navigating the complex web of statutes and regulations pertaining to private parties’ interaction with state and federal governments. Mr. Bloom received his B.A., magna cum laude, from The George Washington University in 1984 and received a J.D., with honors, from The George Washington University National Law Center in 1987.
